Regina Social Media Users Need to be Strategic About Event Promotion

category: event marketing event marketing type: blog

Last week one of my blog posts, How to Use Social Media to Promote Your Event, was featured in the Daley Progress newsletter, which you can read in its entirety here. When I had a chance to finally sit down and read the newsletter, it got me thinking about Regina social media use and event promotion. If you're wondering why it took so long, in the chaos that was last week (which included: board meetings, client meetings, 12-hour work days, 2 new blog posts, Arlene Dickinson, and a house-warming), I almost missed it! Regina Women's Network, who hosted Arlene Dickinson last Thursday evening at the Delta Regina, used many of the tips outlined in my post before, during, and after the event - way to go ladies!

While I do see local Regina social media use picking up, many people are not using it as strategically as they could be, especially when it comes to events! Promoting the event to get ticket sales is common, especially on Facebook where it's so easy to create and invite people to an event. But what about keeping people connected and excited in the lead up to and the day of the event? How do you keep people talking about your event online when it's over?

Does your business use social media for event promotion and engagement? Did it work well, or did you have trouble staying on top of it? Would you try it again?

If you haven't tried it, what is stopping you?
