I'm Verified on Facebook - Are You?
Facebook previously rolled out 'verified' pages for celebrities and big business back in 2013 - now it's rolling out to everyone! If you don't have the verification option on your page yet, be patient, bookmark this article, and keep checking your page until it shows up.
The purpose of verified pages is to try and create some legitimacy so that your clients know it's really you, and not some random person who has created a page with your name or your business name. There are 2 additional benefits to having a verified page:
- your page will get early access to new Facebook features
- your page will show up higher in search results, and so may get more visitors
Sounds good, right? Here are some instructions so that you can get your page verified too:
You should have this option on your page right under your profile photo - click on the text to get started. If it's not there, try going to Settings > General > Page Verification. If you still don't see the option, it just means that you'll need to wait a little bit longer.
Enter the phone number that's associated with your business and click 'Call Me Now' - you'll get an automated call from Facebook with a verification code. If for some reason the phone call won't work for you, click 'Verify this Page with documents instead'.
You can snap a photo of any of the above listed documents and upload in here. In my case, I used my phone number since it was the faster option.
When you get the automated call from Facebook, type in the code here and click 'Continue'. They will repeat the code twice. If you miss it, you will need to click 'Call Me Again' to get a new code.
That's it - you're now verified!
If you are a public figure, media company, or brand, you will see a blue checkmark behind your page name. If you are a business or organization, you will see a grey checkmark just like the one pictured above.
